Flojet Q40HF-118S-2P is a VersiJet Series pump engineered for applications such as liquid transfer, spraying, cooling, circulation, filtration, and dispensing. Each pump is constructed with a glass-filled polypropylene upper housing, coated motor, co-molded Santoprene diaphragm, and EPDM check valves and seals to maximize durability and service life. The integrated pressure switch ensures automatic operation, while the self-priming design allows for up to 8 feet of dry lift. VersiJet pumps can run dry without damage, and their quiet, smooth performance minimizes disruptions in busy work areas. Quick-connect ports streamline installation and maintenance, so operators can attach or remove hoses and fittings quickly without tools for fast pump swaps or service. It delivers up to 4 GPM and handles a maximum pressure of 60 PSI. This pump is self-priming up to 8 feet, and it includes a built-in pressure switch that automatically shuts off the pump when system pressure reaches 60 PSI. Upgrade your pumping system today and keep your operation flowing without interruptions!
Proper installation and operation are crucial for maximizing the life and efficiency of your Flojet VersiJet pump.
Securely mount the pump to a solid, dry surface in an area with adequate ventilation, using the rubber dampening feet to absorb vibrations. The pump can be mounted horizontally or vertically, with the pump head facing downwards.
Notes:
Use only flexible, braided hose rated for high pressure that matches the included port fittings. Do not use rigid or plastic piping to connect the pump, as these materials can transmit vibration and stress, resulting in louder operation.
For optimal protection and performance, install a Flojet 40 Mesh strainer on the inlet side of the pump. An arrow on the pumphead indicates the correct flow direction.
Ensure that all electrical wiring is performed by a qualified and competent electrician, adhering to all local and national electrical codes. Select the proper wire gauge and fuse size based on the maximum current draw of your specific pump model, the wire length, and relevant regulatory standards. Refer to the pump label for precise current draw specifications. When wiring, ensure the positive and negative leads are connected to the power source as indicated on the label for safe operation.
Before startup, ensure the inlet line connected to the pump inlet is fully submerged in the fluid. With the power on and the discharge line open, allow the pump to prime. If your pump features an on-demand pressure switch, it will activate when the discharge line is open and deactivate once the line is closed and the switch shut-off pressure is achieved.
Note: These pumps are intended for intermittent duty. If the pump overheats, its thermal protection will automatically shut it off until it has cooled sufficiently, then reset and restart.
In spraying applications, the pressure supplied by the pump is generally dependent on the size of the spray nozzle. If the orifice of the nozzle is too small, the pump’s pressure switch will repeatedly turn on and off, causing a pulsating flow. Running the pump in this rapid start/stop pattern, or outside of the recommended duty cycle, can cause the internal thermal breaker to trip or lead to early motor failure due to excessive heat. To avoid these issues, always select a spray nozzle size that matches the system requirements.
Regular maintenance helps prolong the life of your Flojet VersiJet pump and ensures consistent performance in your car wash.
Perform periodic monthly checks on all electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing connections for any signs of looseness, damage, or unusual conditions. Inspect the inlet strainer and clean it as needed to prevent clogs. If the pump is used to transfer liquids other than water, it should be thoroughly flushed with clean water after each use. This prevents chemical buildup and corrosion.
For car washes in regions experiencing freezing temperatures, proper winterizing is essential. First, drain the pump completely by removing the inlet line from the fluid source and running the pump until no more fluid dispenses. Then, introduce an appropriate anti-freeze solution by running the pump until it is filled. This is critical to prevent any fluid from freezing inside the pump, as expanding ice can crack the pump housing or severely damage internal components, leading to costly repairs.
